Our snorkel trip is your ticket away from the cruise ship crowds! We are an American couple with a small private resort and watersports operation. Our property is on a quiet stretch of beach on the calm north shore. We have quick access to some of the best snorkeling spots on the island. We specialize in creating a unique and personalized experience for your small group or family. Our snorkel trip takes you by boat to a few private sites just down the shore from our property. After snorkeling for approximately 1 hr 30 min we return to the property where you can relax or explore the nearby mangrove on our stand up paddle boards or in the 2 person kayak. If you wish to have lunch, we can have the local fisherman deliver fresh seafood to our dock and we will help you grill it over our beachfront fire pit. Other watersports are also available upon request (waterskiing, wakeboarding, tubing, kneeboarding, and jet skiing).

Shrimp Creole, clam chowder, chicken and sausage jambalaya, Southern fried chicken, Boston cream pie...just one taste of them and you'll realize how enjoyable real American-style cooking can be. There's much more to the American cooking tradition than those savory, lip-smacking burgers and hotdogs dressed with relish and ketchup, and juicy steaks sizzling aromatically on the grill with the traditional baked potato served with salad, French bread, and wines. Home Cooking American Style will immerse you in the captivating depths of American cuisine from the Creole and "Soul Food" of the South to the Pennsylvania Dutch finger-licking, lip-smacking comfort food of the North; from those savory Boston baked beans with brown sugar, molasses, and traditional salt pork to delicious sourdough bread in San Francisco. The heritage is immense and exceptional, and the food is utterly divine. You can be assured these recipes are easy to follow, genuine, and certain to please. Potato salad, coleslaw, barbecued pork chops, old-fashioned apple pie a la mode, and strawberry shortcake.... There's a bounty of eating and cooking enjoyment in Home Cooking American Style. 1. This week, we continue celebrating (and apologizing for) Car Talk's 30th Anniversary on NPR, with some of our all-time favorite "out there" calls. Our roster includes space shuttle astronaut John, whose government vehicle had a slight hesitation problem at 17,000 miles per hour; Gail, the Most Wanted Tollbooth fugitive at the Betsy Ross Bridge; Dave from Bemidji, MN, whose road trip from Alaska included using a campfire grill to fix his catalytic converter; Will, whose old dog Moses "blew beets"; and the saga of one of our heroes, lawn chair pilot Larry Walters. All this and more, this week on The Best of Car Talk's Field Guide to the North American Wacko. [Broadcast Date: September 16, 2017] 1. Language: English. Narrator: Tom Magliozzi, Ray Magliozzi. Michael Pollan, the bestselling author of The Omnivore's Dilemma, Food Rules, and How to Change Your Mind, explores the previously uncharted territory of his own kitchen in Cooked. Cooked is now a Netflix docuseries based on the book that focuses on the four kinds of "transformations" that occur in cooking. Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alex Gibney and starring Michael Pollan, Cooked teases out the links between science, culture and the flavors we love. In Cooked, Pollan discovers the enduring power of the four classical elements-fire, water, air, and earth-to transform the stuff of nature into delicious things to eat and drink. Apprenticing himself to a succession of culinary masters, Pollan learns how to grill with fire, cook with liquid, bake bread, and ferment everything from cheese to beer. Each section of Cooked tracks Pollan's effort to master a single classic recipe using one of the four elements. A North Carolina barbecue pit master tutors him in the primal magic of fire; a Chez Panisse-trained cook schools him in the art of braising; a celebrated baker teaches him how air transforms grain and water into a fragrant loaf of bread; and finally, several mad-genius "fermentos" (a tribe that includes brewers, cheese makers, and all kinds of picklers) reveal how fungi and bacteria can perform the most amazing alchemies of all. The reader learns alongside Pollan, but the lessons move beyond the practical to become an investigation of how cooking involves us in a web of social and ecological relationships. Cooking, above all, connects us. The effects of not cooking are similarly far reaching. Relying upon corporations to process our food means we consume large quantities of fat, sugar, and salt; disrupt an essential link to the natural world; and weaken our relationships with family and friends. In fact, Cooked argues, taking back control of cooking may be the single most important step anyone can take to help make the American food system healthier and more sustainable. Reclaiming cooking as an act of enjoyment and self-reliance, learning to perform the magic of these everyday transformations, opens the door to a more nourishing life.
